You will have 10,000 pilots junior to you at United in 4 more years plus 5,000 retirements in the next decade. That’s pretty good furlough protection.
You have a LOT of choices living in ORD for United. You have one choice at SWA. Fly the 737 as an FO until you can upgrade in 8-10 years.
Definitely United..
Every United pilot hired back in the day was told they would be a Whale Captain, at Retirement… which would also be worth millions!
Lets not forget the statement “you’ll never have to update your logbook ever again!”
This is not meant to be a slam at the poster or thread starter.
Reality is, every carrier is a gamble. Every carrier has a culture. And every carrier has a direction.
Not putting down SWA but there is no doubt we offer more options and (hopefully) a better financial outlook.
That being written, If you were to look at all 3 majors (UAL/DAL/AA) you would have to agree that not all three are the same!
Based on a recent AW&ST article, Boeing has some serious issues with the 78. Do I think we will take delivery..yes. We WILL need to replace our 763’s at some point.
Will we get a new (
ILC23) at some point (betting May-June of this year).. Yes. Will it change how junior the Left seat goes.. yes.
Good luck to the thread starter. If ya come here, see ya out on line~
