Was it a letter of caution or reprimand? Cautions or memos stay in the boss’ desk and get tossed when you leave a command. It’s just evidence to really throw the book at you if you F-up again. Reprimands stay in your record for at least some period of time.
I couldn’t imagine reporting a caution.
