Last time I talked to planning about a month or so ago they said they got more flying for this summer than anticipated. Not sure if there is something in the works?! I don't think the trips are that much better on the 70/90, I've seen a lot of pairings that had 3-4.5 hr. sits here and there, and there are a lot of 30+ hr. layovers. Unless you like that kind of stuff. Also, when the next vacancy bid comes out for more 70/90 FOs, I expect it to go pretty senior, just like the last vacancy bid for 70/90 Captains. Most junior guy awarded CR70 CA has been here close to 17 years. Now, if we do get more -900s (from Mesa for example) I wouldn't be surprised if (mis)-management would decide to base a few in JFK.
