Well thats exactly the problem. Those places dont exist anymore. Republic and Skywest have slowed down to the point that if you jump ship it will still take you 5 years from your hire date at comair until you hold CA anywhere else.

Pinnacle and Mesaba have both stopped hiring CA. Not mention the fact that you will sit reserve there as a CA forever too, because of all of the senior FOs who will upgrade on top of you.

Mesa, well we all know they were going to hire street CAs if you wanted to subject yourself to torture. But I think those plans are on hold now too.

Also there actually are folks at Comair who will upgrade before 5 years. 5-6 years is the current mark, but I can assure you IF(and that is the key word anywhere you jump ship too) things continue to flow as they are now with 15 CA quiting a month. I will be able to hold upgrade in just over 3 years from DOH. You will have to figure out your own situation though because people hired just a few month after me may not be able to for an extra year or two. If you were hired on the front end of the hiring wave in the end of 06 begging of 07 you are not looking too bad right now. If you were hired in the middle to late 07 there hasnt been much hiring after you because of the loss of flight hours and airframes. (Its all about timing so figure out your own situation)

If you can predict the future and know if Delta and NWA are gonna merge and can figure out which regional will somehow gain flying in the mess, then be all means jump ship and head there.
