After many years in the industry... As an outsider perspective who's been through half a dozen contract. Management doesn't "manage" anything. Their brains are simply too undeveloped and/or small (after all they intentionally got into management)... What they do is execute knee jerk instinctive responses to whatever is perceived as the largest threat in any particular moment. In this climate, pilots can basically get whatever they want, it's just a question of "when" the threat of running out of pilots becomes real enough for the C Suite bottom feeders to cave.
