Just like when FedEx retired perfectly good 727s and replaced them with more fuel efficient and less reliable 757s. And worse the 727s were the most reliable jet in our network. They did it for the ESG. It was all to say that FedEx was being environmentally friendly.

FedEx is going to park the MD-11s. While it make take years, it is starting in April.
