As other posters have pointed out why don’t you step up? I saw a posting for numerous elections over the last few months. Was your name on the list? It’s obvious you believe in an approach that entails opening numerous sections. That, however, was not the opinion of the majority of pilots in the surveys it sounds like. Get over it you were in the minority. The majority wins. This is the basis of a union vs being a none union pilot group. Like pinseeker pointed out show up and recall them or shut up. Talking like a tough guy on the internet about people behind their back is cowardly. Professionalism
- Are you mad that the negotiating committee is not flying full-time? Do you not think they’re doing full-time work during negotiations? I'm not mad about the NC not flying but I believe a month or two of real line flying and talking to people day in and day out would better capture pilot sentiment and get the NC out of their own echo chamber. The old folktale "The Emperor's New Clothes" comes to mind.
- As other posters have pointed out why don’t you step up? This is a typical ALPA response. Every pilot on our list that is off of probation pays for representation and has a right to voice their opinions and concerns. We pay a lot of money to be represented and the tired response of "take what you get and shut up and row" unless you run for office has proven to be a red herring.
- It’s obvious you believe in an approach that entails opening numerous sections. That, however, was not the opinion of the majority of pilots in the surveys it sounds like. Get over it you were in the minority. The majority wins. I have never personally seen all of the polling results. I don't know what the majority wanted. I do know that the climate has changed greatly in the last 9 months to include the messaging from senior leadership. The goal was also to have a deal completed by May of 2022. We are nearing a year beyond that date, a failure.
- Talking like a tough guy on the internet about people behind their back is cowardly. Nothing I have said here has not been said to my reps. Sharing my opinion with other pilots is not cowardly. I'm sorry that you don't agree with me but that's okay. I know not everyone has the exact same views as me. I welcome healthy professional debate unlike the ALPA insiders who take this too personally. Guess what, suggesting people go back to the line is not asking them to be unemployed or wishing them ill will. They return to a job that many of us do every month. Is that so bad?
My viewpoint comes from a place of performance evaluation. If the person or persons being paid to deliver results do not perform then you move on to another option. If threats and desires have changed and the person or persons being paid to represent you do not adapt and perform, you move on to representation more aligned with your needs. That is life. This is business. I wish no one at ALPA ill will despite some rather nasty things that they have said about me simply because I share an opinion with them. They are paid to represent me. Period. Professional.
