It sounds to me like you are simply pouting because you have an opinion different than others. I have talked to my rep regarding how the openers were made and why they have not shifted those goals. I agree with his assessment. Especially after hearing the NC at the last hub turn meeting talk about mediation and the NMB’s expectations from both sides entering mediation. My understanding from what they said is mediation doesn’t allow you to change your opener positions on a whim based on the wind direction of the day. That same restriction applies to the company. Imagine for a second if the company was allowed to renegotiate positions or sections they didn’t open. The process of negotiations then wouldn’t work. Both sides would constantly “shift the goalposts” as the NC stated. My rep also said when you enter meditation both sides sign a protocol agreement that lays out what sections are still open for negotiations. The mediator then agrees to that as the basis for mediation. Breaking that contract forgoes mediation from my understanding. I don’t believe it’s useful to blow up the whole process because a few people on social media (me included). I believe the surveys are the way to go that way the majority are allowed to respond not just a few APC posters (myself included). My suggestion is you take a deep breath and realize you are one opinion like mine in a pot of 5,800 opinions. I won’t get everything I want in the new contract same as you. That is why we are part of a union. It’s about the whole not individuals. If you don’t like that may I suggest you leave FedEx and gain employment at a none union airline that allows you to negotiate for just yourself. After that takes place compare what you negotiated for yourself to our contract. Let me know how that turns out…..
