The * means that crew scheduling has made a comment about your trade in a comments file. Basically the reason the trade was denied so that if you call scheduling they can review the comments on why it was denied.

Usually says "trip trade denied due to 30/7..or no longer open...or reserve requirements". Basically something that you don't like.
