Getting premium as a commuter is very hard. It can be done, but you can probably count on one hand all the premium trips you will get in your first year as a commuter.
You can make more if you don't want any days at home by making yourself available for straight pay trips on your days off (no open time pickup on reserve), but that is HIGHLY frowned upon until we get a new contract. Everybody can see what you are doing including the CAs you fly with. Be prepared to get some slack if you do that.
Any way, you will have no life pinning for that PM which is just $90 an hour x1.5. Why would anybody do that? Wait till at least your second year pay raise if you want to grind out a year of high earnings.
Yeah I’m making “the move”(if interview goes well), to stop the shenanigans like working for straight pay on days off, even tho we get a little extra in my company.
Just doing the math. Pay cut on first year is there and information is power.
