Default DFW

I’ll throw it out here since no one else has.

Looks like it hasn’t been in a class drop for a while, but I’m guessing the same holds true trying to get there and can be done within a bid or two and the quickest way is to stay on the same equipment?

Specifically on the Bus, what do the trip pairings look like?

What's the best way to make money when junior, living in base? Sounds like staying on reserve and picking up PR might be the best?

How long for WB FO and what do the trips out of DFW look like?

PR is not very common. If you want money, live in base, line holder, and try for PM

Interested in the above info as well. What do most of the pairings look like on the 737? Average reserve utilization? I live local with the other Dallas airline and am thinking about making the jump.

Hi everyone. Trying to make a decision / doing the math. I know things are moving and you can hold lines faster than ever BUT I’m assuming 2 months in training and the rest of the year (if not more) on reserve. Is it easy/doable to make anything above min guarantee that first year?. Does being SC/LC affect your earning potential while on reserve? Or it’s pretty much the same.

I live in a Colorado and I’d have to commute for a year, moving to base after that, either DFW or MIA bases would work.

I was wondering when DFW was going to be added. Now I feel better.

My utilization is averaging 57% since my first month in DFW last august (737/FO/SC). That equates to touching 10 days, but a large chunk of those days are late sign-in and/or early return.

are you reserve in-base Airbus DFW dudes actually flying every day of your reserve?

for the Airbus DFW guy who prefers to "not fly much" is reserve the way to do it, or just get a line and try to get the days off blocks you want, with easy-ish trips otherwise

Getting premium as a commuter is very hard. It can be done, but you can probably count on one hand all the premium trips you will get in your first year as a commuter.

You can make more if you don't want any days at home by making yourself available for straight pay trips on your days off (no open time pickup on reserve), but that is HIGHLY frowned upon until we get a new contract. Everybody can see what you are doing including the CAs you fly with. Be prepared to get some slack if you do that.

Any way, you will have no life pinning for that PM which is just $90 an hour x1.5. Why would anybody do that? Wait till at least your second year pay raise if you want to grind out a year of high earnings.

Im a DEN commuter, but not an FO. Easy to commute to LCR from DEN, SCR will pay 3 more hours a month, but not worth commuting for that. Very possible to fly PM/PR as a commuter with our app process, but I’m not sure how Jr it goes on the FO side. You can put in for PR/PM in any base and choose start times etc. LAX is a pretty easy commute as is DFW, MIA is tough, but I’d definitely move there over DFW if I were you (personal preference). Commute to DFW then pick the base you want to live in.

It’s good to know this commute ain’t that bad. That’s the idea, DFW commute to then move in base. There’s a couple places around Miami where I wouldn’t mind living but prices are ridiculous, so maybe DFW is the winner we’ll see.
I’m not a workaholic but one PR trip here and there on first year would help a lot with the first year pay cut for sure.
