Im just an outsider, but I’ve definitely flown with people who chase money, and who would absolutely kick a can down the road and write up an issue at the end of the day to make a buck rather than do the right thing. And I’m not talking about a fallen mirror. There are plenty of those types in aviation as well, and if you’ve ever been burned by flying with them (or have had close calls) then you know how creating an incentive like that could affect their decision making.
That’s on you. If you don’t have the fortitude to speak up you are the only one to blame. If they are willing to do things suspect for a little extra money they don’t care about your ticket. When I first meet up with someone that is one of the first things I say. I don’t chase fdp and I don’t want to fill out any paperwork. I recently made a Capt that was hesitant about writing something up put his phone on speaker when he called maintenance. I spoke over him to get it on the recorded line that they were asking us to do something that wasn’t approved.
