I recently made a Capt that was hesitant about writing something up put his phone on speaker when he called maintenance. I spoke over him to get it on the recorded line that they were asking us to do something that wasn’t approved.
That’s one way to look at it. But people will be people, and an incentive that is at odds with making a safety call is going to affect decision making. That’s fantastic that YOU don’t chase fdp, but other people will, and that’s the problem. Someone like you won’t be around every time to put your foot down. In a perfect world, fdp wouldn’t negatively affect decision making, but we don’t live in a perfect world.
