Seems like a pretty bad idea to me. Rapid decompression, smoke/fumes, fire in the cabin, etc. can all get very hectic very quickly. What if you have to ditch? Even in seemingly the least threatening scenario - out over the water in the middle of nowhere - it’s still safest to have two pilots at the controls.
It seems silly to you because you’re a pilot; I highly doubt it sounds silly to a bean counter, who is more than willing to take write off the loss of a hull and a couple of button pushing pilots to save millions. To him you’re just a part of the basic operating weight.
