Wow! Seems the more questions I answer the more questions I get. Some of the questions are drifting over into mgt territory, like where do I see our fleet structure down the road and what's the future of cargo lift. I can't answer questions like that so I won't try.
World currently has 17 planes counting the DC-10's. The only thing I can say for certain about the DC-10 fleet is that the one pax bird is going back to the lessor this fall. Presumably the company is looking for business for the 2 DC-10 freighters. We're getting 747's because that's what our Pacific customers want. The MD-11 makes a very good freighter so it will probably be around for awhile. NAA 767's are passenger only. All the cargo lift is on the World side of the house. NAA also has 757's (pax only)
World has it's own dispatch, mx, scheduling, HR etc., etc. As far as I know the only department sharing resources might be sales so they can talk to each other. Finally, I don't have any first hand knowledge of furloughs and the company's direction. Whiskypilot said it in another post. They don't tell us nuthin! The recent hiring was even a surprise to WP and me.
