It all depends. Not everyone reads APC. Some won’t even know about this until they show up at intro, excited about their first chance at 121 flying. In fact, I rather imagine that’s how this was sprung on the first group. There is an old military saying about you can tell your recruiter is lying to you because their lips move.
And no, the demise of Republic would not be a godsend to other regionals. Do you seriously think the CAs at Republic would STAY in the regionals if they lost the “golden handcuffs” of their current pay and seniority? To be a DEC - to start again at the very bottom of the seniority list and watch every FO hired before them leapfrog over them for years? When even Delta is now waiving their 1000 hrs of turbine time to only a preference?
Nope. The regionals are dying. Get in and get out as quickly as you can be hired somewhere better. Or skip them altogether if you can. LC/ULCC, ACMI,Part 135, even Part 91 turbo jobs are out there, you just have to hustle for them.
