I know a few guys now who are going to basically bid every 330/350 position to make sure they get one before it goes super senior. My prediction is not only will NYC330 go senior, I think it’ll be like 12,000 number and lower (as in more senior). I may be wrong but all the other 330 bases will be crazy senior so I see NYC following suit. In other words, new hires will be back to the NB only bids moving forward. I just see too many FOMO pilots who are anxious to try the 330 after their seat lock release. I bet it’ll go back to 4-5 years to hold the 330 like it was a few years ago.
And take a paycut? I don't think so.. the NB are getting a a number of "raises" through improved PWA protections. Sit pay, holiday pay, pay for the 0000-0200 carveout. Increased reroute pay. GS galore. Yes, WBB has a better QOL overall, but for pay, I still think the NB FO position will far and away pay more than a widebody FO for the foreseeable future.
