PS: a degree is a horrible measure of how good a pilot is; that requirement eliminated a huge group of pilots from all our military from being hired.
United has always hired pilots with zero captain time. I’ve flown with many of them over the years. Many are captains now. The overwhelming majority have been outstanding aviators and many I now consider close friends.
