I am currently going through DEC training. The training footprint is similar except captain candidates get two extra days of ground training on captain responsibilities and regs. All pilots are required to learn both FO and captain flows, FOs are considered to be captains in training. Captains are evaluated for situational awareness and decision making, but they do prepare you for it. If you are hired by Envoy with 950+ hours of Part 121 time or an equivalent, they will require that you train as a direct entry captain. There is no choice, thanks to the captain shortage. If you take the job, you must accept their terms.

If you are a current E175 FO, there is an abbreviated upgrade training program. I have heard the short upgrade program has three sim lessons, then an MV and LOE, whereas initial FO and DEC training involves 8 CPTs, 8 sims, an MV and LOE. Every new captain at Envoy is required to get 50 hours of IOE, whereas FOs get 25 hours of IOE, and someone transitioning from E145 CA to E175 CA gets 15 hours of IOE.
