AQP Training VS traditional training?
Wanted some advice,
What is better training AQP or traditional in terms of
truly understanding the material and successfully passing training?
many airlines don’t have AQP but envoy I think they do correct me if I am wrong.
how is the overall training At envoy. I heard you guys have your own 175 sim so that is great
and that you have your own company instructors or is it farmed out to someone light flight safety

and you're asking because... this is a determinant as to which regional to choose? IMHO, it's irrelevant. Training is what it is. However, I would point out that in this environment the last thing that an airline wants to do is washout a good pilot because of an inadequate training program.
Choose one regional over another another because you like the equipment, the bases, the vibe, the pay, the prestige (of that airline vs Mesa, for example). Envoy is a top tier regional with excellent equipment, pay, atmosphere. If bases don't matter, to me it's a no brainer.

Yes, captain training is AQP at Envoy. They want everyone to pass and will give extra sim time as long as you have a good attitude and are progressing. Training has 8 CPTs, a PV, KV, 8 sim sessions, an MV, and LOE. If you still can’t do a V1 cut after 8 sim lessons you might have a problem.

What’s the difference in upgrade vs initial
I wanted to ask what’s the major difference
between captain upgrade and initial new hire first officer
in regards to flying. I would imagine captain upgrade its more
about having the ability to make decisions and have more knowledge of GOM and regs

If you are a current E175 FO, there is an abbreviated upgrade training program. I have heard the short upgrade program has three sim lessons, then an MV and LOE, whereas initial FO and DEC training involves 8 CPTs, 8 sims, an MV and LOE. Every new captain at Envoy is required to get 50 hours of IOE, whereas FOs get 25 hours of IOE, and someone transitioning from E145 CA to E175 CA gets 15 hours of IOE.

A lot of captain decision making is common sense. Aviate, Navigate, Communicate. If the checklist says land at the nearest suitable airport, do that. Otherwise you will be sending messages to dispatch and maintenance through ACARS, or get patched through to the doctor on call, and will get input from them and from your FO on most inflight problems. CRM is important. Yes, the captain is ultimately responsible, but you are part of a team and will have a lot of help. You will also have a lot of training a long the way. Ask a lot of questions during IOE. No need to be afraid of upgrade.
