Some came here after retiring from the military or after getting stuck at the regionals during the lost decade, etc. The rep I spoke with wouldn't give me any specific numbers, but I imagine it had something to do with not putting in over 25 years of service.
I guess I'm a little confused with the process... It makes zero sense to me to have the MEC vote on the TA after the NC settles with the company unless it's mostly ceremonial. The MEC should be aware of what's going on each meeting and already know that they approve of it when it's finished. The MEC should be actively involved in decision making with the NC. If the NC isn't doing what the MEC approves of then fire them more than a year ago. Then to take a week to decide what to vote on a TA that you've already seen? The entire process makes zero sense if the MEC has been kept properly informed on what's in it. I guess that's why I assumed the MEC hadn't seen it.

I understand why the vote wasn't last Monday. But if you know what's in it, then the vote should've been shortly after and it should be an easy yes after letting the NC go two years through a process that according to you they were aware of. It makes the MEC look disorganized. After all, we were clearly getting to the end of the process and last Monday's announcement wasn't a surprise.
