So is picking up a GS with pilots on Furlough. I am not saying it’s the same thing, at all. Just pointing out there is a line, and some shades of grey short of it with varying degrees of appropriateness to different people.
I don’t have an issue with the occasional OOBWS “good deal”.
Especially for a NH FO unable to AE away from his initial assignment. What I DO have a big problem with is people flying (almost) all their trips in a base they either 1) cannot hold, or 2) would take a major seniority hit to bid where they actually fly. It’s unseemly, IMO. You want to fly out of the base where you live? Bid it.
That said, and as
you said Trip,
it’s legal and in the contract. But as mentioned already, be prepared to read the room. I’d be all for limiting OOBWS somehow, not to the point where you can’t pick up one, or even two. But to where you can’t feast solely on them. JMO.
