IVDs are the undisputed heavyweight champion of getting the summer time you need off. The above cannot be overstated. if you want summer weeks off, use an IVD if you don’t have vacation. Bank time or work around the IVD. It’s not perfect but you can have summer vacations here without too much hassle.
Also, reference 23.I.19. Great way to drop a trip with PD/APD/IVD and use future vacation hours to pay yourself for the trip. This reduces your future vacation hours while retaining the vacation days (useful if you have an actual vacation over your future vacation days.) It’s a pseudo way to get summer “vacation.”
