They won't go to CA school day one. I wasn't saying different. Their bid position will be CA and they will serve as FO's on that fleet for 350 hours. Aided by a consolidation line so they might get to 350 quicker than current. Once they get the 350 they'd go back to school for their bid position.
That's why I think it would go junior in a new hire class. For those that have the option in the drop with their seniority, why not just bid right seat and then go left after probation if they ultimately want the left seat? They'd avoid all of the restrictions that a new hire CA would carry for three years. I think these positions could end up going junior in a class to the folks that don't have any other categories fall to them.
You’re required to have 1000 part 121 SIC prior to upgrade… Airlines generally track their own hours but require pilots to go out of their way to document additional hours they wish to use towards upgrade requirements. If someone doesn’t want to bust their butts to get to 1000hrs in the right seat required required to upgrade, they could probably drag it out for 3-4 years.
