You’re required to have 1000 part 121 SIC prior to upgrade… Airlines generally track their own hours but require pilots to go out of their way to document additional hours they wish to use towards upgrade requirements. If someone doesn’t want to bust their butts to get to 1000hrs in the right seat required required to upgrade, they could probably drag it out for 3-4 years.
If they don’t get caught…. Pretty easy to verify if you pull up their logbooks/resume. Good way to get fired as a probie.
