I’ve been flying since 2005. Started military and then went to contracting. Some 91ish stuff and 135 stuff. I moved to 121 last year. I have approximately 3800 hours and had a clean record up until I had a bad day at work which happened to be the day of a line check and didn’t pass.
Realistically, how long will this line check failure affect my ability to have a chance to move on and try to get on with Alaska? Thanks everyone in advance for any input. I have thick skin, so be as brutally honest as necessary!
I don’t think that will be a hindrance at all. Just be prepared to talk about it, air it out in the open and explain how you learned from it. Be positive and most of all be yourself. They are hyper sensitive to people leaving, so if they even catch a whiff of you wanting to use Alaska as a stepping stone, they won’t hire you. It really is a great group of people to work with, don’t take these boards as any kind of sampling, otherwise you’d think we’re an angry bunch ;-). It’s not rainbows and unicorns, but it isn’t the worst either. Good luck!!
