The funny thing is JO said they can meet United’s utilization target by the end of 2024 at the earliest. Will United keep Mesa around till then? Just depends how bad United needs the regional lift. If United didn’t have their own staffing issues they would have probably dumped Mesa faster than Delta and American did.
If Mesa shut their doors today, it’s not like the other regionals can take on any more flying. They’re all coming up short due to lack of captains. I’d expect UAL to prop up who ever needs it for the near term since the alternatives would take too much time.
