There is a clause in the United UPA that says that they are to make reasonable efforts to hire qualified pilots who were represented by ALPA and lost their jobs as well. The point is that United doesn’t want disruptions to their regional lift any more than what the shortage of captains is already causing. They’ll throw money at any regional to keep the status quo chugging on along, especially one that only operates large dual class rj’s.
