Looking at the total number of pilots hired at American since 2020 from FAPA:


2020: 356
2021: 581
2022: 1,941
2023 through the end of July: 1,306

That's 4,182 pilots hired since January 1, 2020.

Now, looking at APC age 65 retirements since January 1, 2020...

2020: 323
2021: 542
2022: 624
2023: 828

Total: 2,317

These figures do not include COVID retirements, early outs/medical retirements.

Just looking at the pilot numbers, AA might be a better deal than Delta or United now as American didn't hire nearly as many pilots and they may be on the upswing, so if one is to leave, the time would be now.
