But what's really going on is the stupid RLA negotiations game where the company doesn't negotiate because they don't have to. Until the NMB starts making noise about an impasse, the company doesn't have to do jack squat. What the company is banking on is a hiring slowdown at the major airlines and we are seeing that. UPS and FedEx have publicly announced that they have stopped hiring for the year, if not longer. Delta has significantly reduced their planned hiring to 30 a week, down from some ridiculous number like 100 a week. The high-paying regionals with guaranteed no-interview flows are getting everybody they want and are slowing their attrition. We (ABX) are seeing an uptick in hiring numbers and the experience levels of many of those applicants. They're still not getting the numbers they want, but they are getting more. They were shooting for classes of 16 to 18 and getting 6. They're still shooting for 16 to 18, but they got 11 for the most recent class starting this week and for upcoming classes. The company's patience is being rewarded.
