Concessions are to give breathing room in times of economic constraint. Revenue has basically doubled since last time.
To use your analogy, it’s as if you got a raise at work and came home to tell your wife she can’t go on the girls weekend this year because you got a raise. What? See how long that lasts.
Here's another analogy: Do you think that when a company executive goes in for his pay raise review, they tell him, "we will give you a raise, but you have to give back X many vacation days?"
I don't think that happens, or the word would get around and no executive would work here.
It should be the same way for pilots.
