1. Has anyone used this MCDU Emulator? http://mcdu.equicom.net/

2. Is it good prep for training, only familiarization, or is it a bad source?

Background: I flew for a regional, then jumped to a part 135 air ambulance operator. Life circumstances are dictating a return to part 121. I haven't used an FMS in while and I'm just looking to get familiar with the interface, button pushing, and page navigation. Would like to not feel lost the first time I sit and look at it in the sim.

Thanks.
You will be walked through the FMS programming and basic functionality in your initial training. Given the differences between the Airbus and other jets you’ve flown, trying to do solo prep work on the FMS will likely lead to negative training. There is a lot of thing to learn about the box, but much of that is learned on the line and it makes more sense in the real environment. What you need to know to interface with the FMS for normal line operations and simulated emergencies will be covered in your training, and you will have ample time to ask questions and be shown technique. We have plenty of recent new hires who have never used an FMS or flown a jet and they have successfully navigated the training, you will be fine.
