Interestingly enough, I never heard him on TV trying to scare the pilots last time. He never threatened to defer orders or send them to other carriers or any kind of doom and gloom in public. He kept all the posturing to the negotiating room. I would also hazard a guess he knows that pouring out too much doom and gloom too early on will just accelerate the attrition to other carriers although I will reserve the right to be wrong on that one. The smart move on management's part in the early stages is to put a positive spin on negotiations by talking about the TAs on less significant areas of the contract, hence the videos they've put out.
