In addition to the other advice you've gotten: §23.Q.6.c.Exception: is the contractual reference for this. Note the language is slightly sloppy wrt 2nd-day coverage under the new contract--instead of "same day," it should read (and has been applied as if it reads), "same day or next day"--i.e., if you have a RES assignment for the next day or 2nd day, a GS for current or next day is NOT a GSWC, it's applied "without regard" to any such RES assignment.
The Scheduling Reference Handbook, which I believe is vetted by the company, clearly states that a GS award will drop a next day or second day reserve assignment. This should happen even if the trips don’t overlap because your PB days should start immediately after the GS ends and would then spill into your assigned trip.
