Another question for the masses.
I had two days of reserve followed by two off days, the first of which was an off day, the second was an X day.
I am in the WB fleets and last week during the above stretch I got a 21 hr 4 day South America GS.
It shows RES ASSIGN-G/Q SLIP PAY for the 1st day of 10:55
nothing for the second day
10:05 for the 3rd day is credited towards reserve guarantee
Nothing for the 4th day (early morning release)
My question is although the 3rd day was a day off, on a GS is it correct that the 10:05 counts towards reserve guarantee? Along that line, had it been an X day, would it have gone in the RES ASSIGN-G/Q SLIP PAY column?
I GS so rarely I don’t know the nuances of how they work on reserve. However a page or two back there was a PWA snippet which referenced this kind of scenario.
Thanks for all insights.

Hey all, I was told in the past that if you YS a rotation, this note in the contract will no longer apply. Does anyone know where in the SRH/PWA it states that it will no longer apply? Thanks!
“A commuting pilot assigned a rotation under Section 23 S. 2. a. 5) will be considered to have complied with any requirement under a Company or PWA commuter policy to book a backup flight.”

They aren't discouraging YS....it's a QOL boost for the reserve pilot that did't want to be used at 1000 on their first on call day......only needing one commute flight can be the difference between going down the night before, or getting one more night sleep in your own bed.

Works opposite for me. I could easily make a 1000 assigned trip with no backup commute but if I YS the same 1000 assignment I would have to come in night prior if abiding with the backup commute requirement. YS forces a backup commute when it's waived on a regular assignment that first day.
Therefore IMO, it benefits way more pilots that it inconveniences.

You obviously haven't dealt with the SC bidding system. In order to guarantee the time slot you want the only safe way is to YS first in sequence (thus waiving the 1 shot commute option). This is true even for the most senior RES pilots. The system awards SC by time slot, not by pilot senoirity order. So if you preference an if-needed SC time slot, but by the time the system gets to you all those time slots were given away to junior pilots, you're SOL.

I routinely bid 7-8 blocks of on call days to force a 30/168 issue.
I’ve never seen them post they want a SC pilot with 7(8) days of availability and even in the few times I do YS, I don’t get the SC and scheduling says it’s because I don’t meet their posted days of availability.
