Didn’t think you could do that, but got schooled by someone of FB and it worked.
You were able to violate 3-99-5 or 4-99-4 at the beginning of a month? No other things attached to it, like CQ or Velvet?

Speaking of Velvet...I'm trying to strand a reserve day on either side, but what's my responsibility to be contactable during Velvet? I assume I have none as it's Work, similar to CQ.

You have zero requirement to be contactable on any portion of a training day, including velvet.

I’ve ops tested this for a 30-hour rest (failed) attempted notification. They even tried to tell me later I was available before be velvet was even over, lol. Nope, and immediately put into rest.

Just like CQ, its a solid strategy.

At the end of this month I am shooting to get a reserve carry out rotation into a reg month. Right now my month ends with 2 LC days, vacation beforehand. Am I reading correctly that my spillover preferences will only result in them proffering me something 18+ hours out if I am on LC, and only shorter than that if I am on SC? I thought I might drop an IVD so I only have one LC day at the end of the month, but if my spillover preferences don't waive the 18 hour requirement, then that might be shooting myself in the foot?

Keep in mind you get the full 18 hrs coming off vacation, which includes an IVD. If you IVD the 29th, then you, potentially, leave a very narrow window to be assigned a spillover trip. In this case I would probably keep the IVD. And a reminder that has bitten some, you have to fill out the "Spillover Preferences" in PCS, not YS or GS. You may know that, but some don't. Good luck, it's a good deal if you can grab one.

Right, I had assumed the spillover preferences would enable them to proffer me something with down to 10 hours notice, but if that isn't the case then I guess I do need to leave off my IVD and hope they dont assign me a trip that fits within the end of the month.

Scheduling Alert 24-04 doesn't have a specific vacation example, but it does mention spillover starting between 10-18 hours, so your way would seem to work too. Coming off vacation on the 28th, Scheduling would need to find a LC assignment that fits in a 30 hour window.

Correct. Currently have 2 days off in Oct, then LC 1 Nov, X day 2 Nov.
Small detail, this was during a PCS run and not PBS, but PBS is usually less restrictive than PCS runs.

That's actually a pretty large detail. If you're doing this during a PCS, how is it done?
