Reserve for Dummies

They call during that rest period because the assignment can only be made 48 hours out and that means they only have an 18 hour window to properly notify you. They have missed making that call by an actual scheduler many times with me. That's if trip is in open time prior to the rest period. They can't even cover trips in open time on time with regular reserve availability because they let them sit. They may have a "good plan" but they fail regularly on execution.

If it reports between 10 and 18 hours after that 30 hour rest ends and they assign it 12 hours before the rest ends, they don’t have to call you, and you must ascertain anything on your schedule in that 10-18 window. If it is outside of 18 hours, then yes they have to call you with a live person at least 18 hours prior to report and when you are in a contactable status.

Been out sick for the better part of a week with a bad cold but checking MiCrew for next months schedule I see I’ve just been assigned an atrocious 4 day trip. I may give them a courtesy call, I may not, but how on Earth is there not an automatic block on this? How can they assign a rotation to a pilot on sick leave without their system flashing red and saying error?
Maybe they didn’t press the right F Key?

I’m going from REG in Aug to RES in Sep … Is it possible to pick up or swap with POT for a trip that carries over into Sep on top of awarded LC days? If possible, is there any downside to this aside from loss of pay/credit on Aug time card?

Yes. You are only paid block, m/u and DH for the day in the reg month. All trip credit goes into the reserve month toward guarantee

Yes you can, but I'm not really sure what your aim would be since all you'd be earning is block on the duty period(s) in the August bid period. You'd be better off to pick up something that ends Aug 30 (last day of the bid period) that then forces them to give you a 30 hour rest somewhere in your first block (assuming you start LC on the 31st).
