Yea, I get your point about not being able to see things like rest or 30/168. I was more referring to SC assignments. Interestingly enough I just had this play out in real time this morning.

I got up early today, checked my sked. I'm on SC, and I see a trip is now on my sked. Cool. Went back to sleep.

Got up, checked the reserve avail list in ICrew just out of curiosity. Sure enough there is another guy, sitting the same SC, with the same days of availability, junior to me, with a lower raw group, lower raw number, less actual credit, and less SC's. Why would they not get the trip first?

I called CS'ing, they looked into it, trip removed.

Now i'll probably just get a worse trip later.

This is pretty common now. Just keep in mind that the pre-posted rest is not guaranteed and they can remove it at any time before it begins (you have to be notified though.)

What would really be nice, is something in MiCrew or whatever comes next is to have the current Reserve Availability List with already assigned rest or when they are a 30/168 pumpkin denoted kind of like how trips display in calendar view for Open Time / Swap Board.
This month I was not legal to do even a 3 day trip for the first 13 days of the month and they put me on short call every day for 6 days... meanwhile they were busy handing out green slips for every short notice trip. They literally have no idea what they are doing.

The 2359-0858 is the only 9 hour SC I’ve seen. Were they other times or overnight?

I used to get frustrated with the incompetence, but now I just smile and bank PB days. Until management realizes CS is not an entry level position that should be micromanaged to save pennies we will have numerous problems with trip coverage. I laugh when they target PB usage with SS but completely ignore the silliness that creates them. So much of this is self inflicted and if we all do our best to maximize the pain the company may finally address trip coverage.

The company doesn't don't need more steps of trip coverage to solve the 23M7 IA fiasco, they need a trained monkey to click "next" every 12 minutes. At some point when our trip coverage automation catches up to the average manufacture date of our fleet the trained monkey can be retired.

You also need to be properly notified of the pre posted rest via either a scheduler calling you or the required schedule check after finishing a rotation. Last month, I sat a combination of long/short call for 6 days without being used. They had pre posted 30 hours of rest for 1800 that evening to 0000 the next night. No call. Several days later they tried to assign a rotation and I called to tell them I didn't have 30 hours of rest. Of course they pushed back, but when I asked where I had been legally notified of such rest they couldn't provide an answer and eventually dropped it.

People need to read this again. Scheduling tries to pull lots of shenanigans, but one thing they absolutely cannot do is force you to work in violation of the FARs. Every time this has come up I've held my ground and they were forced to back down. This of course means you first need to know the rules regarding contactability and ensuring that you don't check your schedule when not required and never acknowledge anything that lacks proper notification.

This. Earlier this year got out of 3 assignments due to improper notification of a trip or rest in one month. Alas, I think my name is flagged now because they haven’t messed up since.

I’m thinking about bidding reserve next month for the first time in a while. I have a carryover trip and will likely have CQ early in the month and will be trying to force a 30/168 between the carryover and CQ. Am I correct in thinking that there is no required schedule check at the end of the C/O trip as I will still be a Reg until after release?1

REG/RES status is determined by the month, not the trip. If you end your trip in a RES month, you have a schedule check. I think this answers your question?
