Starting in January and by the looks of the recent class drops LAX base starts to look like a likely scenario.

One thing to keep in mind with LAX is that the 405 freeway is complete lunacy during rush hour (6-10 am, 2-8 pm). It can easily take 90 minutes to drive from Huntington Beach to LAX during those times. If I were you I'd look at Marina del Rey, Manhattan/ Hermosa/ Redondo Beaches, and yes Torrance. If you are independently wealthy, then Palos Verdes. Culver City is pretty decent as well.

Be prepared for sticker shock, though. This is one of the most sought after places to live in the entire US and the prices reflect that. But when it's the middle of winter and the rest of the country is buried in "wintry mix" and you're at the beach sunning yourself in 70-degree weather, the traffic, high taxes, and high prices suddenly become more tolerable...
