I doubt AS has any more politicians in their pocket than B6 does. Those little states back East have a lot of Senators for their size and a lot more representatives per square mile than the less population dense West.

They are conservative to a fault, they don't throw hail mary's. I have no idea what their plan is, but I know they have one.
Also HAL isn't in the best financial shape, so it may be politically expedient to preserve the flying with angel investor. If HAL goes away, then it's just SWA.
