Default Combining with Alaska Airlines for a Stronger

It's not posted on front page of HAPeople yet but the files are in the system.

"We have entered into an agreement to become a part of Alaska Airlines Group but continue to operate as the Hawaiian brand. The combined strength of Alaska and Hawaiian will result in many important benefits for employees and guests and preserve the Hawaiian brand into the future, but we understand this kind of change can be difficult to process. We’re committed to communicating often and answering your questions as the process moves forward."

That will be interesting in light of the DOJ fighting the B6/NK acquisition/merger and the B6/NEA agreement.

Perhaps if AS (or Hawaiian) is willing to divest of all mainland to Island flying it might sell. NK and B6 only had about a 10% route overlap - which they are largely willing to divest - but it wasn't enough to keep them out of court with the DOJ.

I like the part about “preserving the bases”.
From my understanding AAG said something very similar to the Virgin guys before closing up NY.

HAL is not exactly a profit machine as it stands and got wonder what the plan is for the 330/787. Wonder if they will offload those and focus on narrow body flying or try to grow the long haul stuff as Hawaiian seemed to be planning before all this. Wild times!

With the NEO's being as problematic as they are, and with what happened to the Virgin fleet, I'd have to imagine Boeing is going to be dangling some pretty big incentives in front of them to replace those A320's.

I would give AS some credit for having analyzed the regulatory landscape and for having a plan.

Assume they will be gone. Might take seven years, but they'll be gone.

Every AS plane is labelled "Proudly All Boeing"
