Option 1 would be to basically keep things as they are while using the synergy of combined ops to make things smoother and more profitable. Replace the 717s and 321s with 737s and replace the 330s with their new 787s.
The second option is a bolder one. Keep the 330s for the Pacific ops, while bringing the 787s to Seattle to compete head to head with us on international ops like CDG, LHR, and HND if they can get a slot. I would think (and hope) that Delta would fight to keep its turf. Slash airfares on those routes and subsidize the loss with our massive domestic ops. Whether it worked or not, that would be an aggressive play for an Alaskan management that historically has been very conservative.
Be interesting to watch for sure!
orr…or Delta can just offer higher than Alaska and never have to worries about the NW/pacific rim again.
sort like what JetBlue did to frontiers attempts to buy Spirit.
I mean if Hawaiian is going to be purchased and slowly put to rest I’d rather have it be by a red triangle 🔺 than an ugly Eskimo 😩
