SPD,

I live in Indy as well and I am based in CVG. It is nice to be able to drive if you have to. I would say it is very realistic to be based out of CVG after training. Last summer everyone was going to JFK, but I think the tides have turned and you can get your pick. I was at the company 12 months (9 months out on the line) before I held a line. That seems to be true for both bases.
As far as crashpads, there are plenty available in CVG. They all seem to be very nice, as many are in relatively new houses. Expect to pay 200-300 dollars a month. When/if you report for training, you will see advertisements around the company buildings for crashpads, so don't worry about trying to track one down.
Hope this helps and good luck! Comair isn't as bad as some make it out to be, so come into everthing with an open-mind and see what works for YOU, not those that post on this board.
