Im not sure what you’re asking exactly. First, they aren’t really street captains in the traditional sense. They will spend a year in the right seat before going to upgrade training. To lead into the second part of your question, these indoc captain award new hires are bidding vacancies. Currently there are captain vacancies and the new contract allows the company to offer them to new hires. It doesn’t change the pilot’s relative company seniority or furlough insulation.

Second. Yes. If there are furloughs it will happen as any furlough would. Furloughing 2000 pilots? The bottom 2000 pilots will be shown the door, no matter captain or FO. When recalls happen, they will be able to come back and bid whatever their seniority can hold. Thats the way the cookies crumble in this industry.
