Depends. I've it's old news you're probably okay. If it's recent, probably not so much. I know someone who failed the same CFI checkride 4 times and he's at United. I know someone who failed 5 different check rides including a 91/135 and a 121 checkride within the 3 years prior to meeting UAL at a Job fair... the recruiter very frankly told him that he wasn't what UAL was looking for.
I know of 2 people who had a failure within ~6 months of the interview and both were hired. But yeah the frequency, timing, circumstances and above all attitude is what really makes a difference.
