Once I got the second passport, I sent in my 10-yr passport for renewal. It hadn't technically expired, but the China visa expires six months prior to the passport.

Once I received it (and my China visa expired) I send in both my new (10-yr) and my expired (10-yr with the expired visa) back to CIBT for the new China visa.

Three steps for two passports and a visa. It's kind of a pain in the rear, but this way you always have a passport available for int'l travel (work and personal). If you don't need the visa, you can still get the second passport. Type 'pilot passport' in the search box on DLNet and it'll bring you straight to the info. Work with pilot assist (through the app) for the expedite letter.
