Perhaps the attrition will take care of the need to have any furloughs, but perhaps downgrades will be required.
With the majority of the pilots leaving being FO's it would stand to reason that downgrades will be a certainty. There will come a point where the balance is lopsided. Many FO's also bypassed up grade so many of those downgraded will be junior to those FO's. Not sure what kind of numbers we need to reduce our staff by, but it sure would have been nice if the special meeting the union and management had, they would have come up with a rough number that we are overstaffed by. That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if we had to furlough in addition to attrition. 34 a month doesn't seem like enough. Also need to consider how long it will take to get an interview, job offer, and class date if guys just started applying today. I hope the legacy hunger for pilots is still ravenous.
