I have been assigned a two-day trip that reports at 2200 29Feb. That first and only operating leg arrives at 0500 next day, followed by an 11 hour layover, and then a two-leg DH back home that releases at 2345. Section 8.D.3. of the PWA states, "A pilot who is scheduled to deadhead at the end of a rotation will be booked on the flight(s) scheduled to return the pilot to their base as soon as possible." Looking at the Fly Delta app, there are a few flight options (including a non-stop) that would get me back to my base sooner. These options would also provide me at least a ten hour layover. (Is that the minimum length of time?) Is this an illegal rotation? If so, what should my course of action be? I have not acknowledged the trip yet.
