I don't have personal anecdite for this situation for a SC, but I aboslutely do for trip covereage. There is no mechanism in the contract that differentiates between the two. An "If Needed" is a YS IF you are, in fact, needed (as delineated in my earlier post), which it seems by what he wrote that he was.
20Fathoms, call CS and ask if you were identified as "needed" on the "Short Call Management List". And then ask them why your "If needed" was not honored. It doesn't matter if they have to unwind 20 other assigments and re-notify 19 people. It must be done properly. IF you were needed, and they don't fix it, call the CPO. Even if they are closed, there is a CP on call. I ahve called them on a Sunday evening before and made them fix it. Good Luck.
Thanks Fangs, too late for this one (didn’t get used thankfully) but will keep that in mind for next time. Unfortunately I’m sure there will be a next time as barely a month goes by where I don’t have to call CS to fix something. Just in the last few months I’ve had them mess up PB days, reroute pay, GS coding, and sick time deductions.
I guess we can add SC to the list

.
Edit: Thanks for the specific SRH reference as well.
