With several recent, somewhat controversial, key votes that went 9-8, I can see the MEC chair playing a very influential role. Hopefully after May 10th, those 9-8 votes will go the other way.

Don't count on it. After the new reps were seated on March 1 the split became 10-7 with the new instructor rep joining the DTW/ATL/NYC/SLC FO coalition. Furthermore, the ATL reps aren’t shy about saying they’re prepared to call for roll call votes if necessary.
